I finally got to visit the latest creation of Anthony Harnden of The Contemporary Craftsmen. His 512 Archer St in Brooke Smith is nearing completion and is on the market.

512 Archer St. is the most stunning and most true to period Craftsman style home I have seen in the Heights. Its design is pure California Greene and Greene style. In his giant book, author and conservator Edward Bosley wrote:
“Charles and Henry Greene in the early 1900’s produced some of the most sensuous and beautifully crafted architecture in America.” Their style reached its peak in Southern California in the early 1900’s.
The Contemporary Craftsmen has now brought that style to the Heights. It surpasses the first single story iteration that he did last year.

This is a remodeled/expanded bungalow that is now 2 story, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths. Craftsman style homes of the 1920’s were designed to combine the indoor and outdoor spaces. This home continues this trend by having 400 SF of covered and screened porches, including an outdoor kitchen. Handcrafted cherry cabinets, oak trim and flooring, plus Arts & Crafts style trim not found elsewhere.
