I’ve lived in suburbs all over Houston – Spring Branch, Jersey Village, Bear Creek. I used to stumble into the Heights every once in a while for some funky event or a strange little night spot. I loved all the odd, old houses, but it was just an experience…I lived in the suburbs.
Now that I’ve lived in the Heights 20 years (Woodland Heights specifically) I can’t think of living anywhere else. So…it seems odd to me now to hear other people say that they have never been to the Heights; or that they’ve come to the shops on 19th Street, but that’s all. When asked to describe what it’s like, it’s tough to do.
So, for those of you who have heard about, but haven’t visited Houston Heights, here is glimpse of some typical homes. There is no choreography here, no encompassing plan. It was just a gorgeous day following 3 days of cold & rain and I wanted to be outside. I just wandered around taking photos and strung them together.
Funky shops, great old homes, and new construction mingled together in a delightful, eclectic mix. Of course too, there are the porches; always the porches.
If you have an interest in moving here, give me a call. I would love to share my insights…Rich
