Spring Branch Home Prices

by Rich on May 12, 2010

See my previous post on Spring Branch homes. Generalizing Spring Branch home prices is difficult to do.  It encompasses such a large area and has so many subdivisions within it and around it, that it’s almost impossible to do.  The homes range from small little starter homes (my first house was here, on Tilson Ln) [...]

See Part 1 of Houston Subdivision Price Trends where price trends of Houston Heights homes were covered. Considering buying or selling a Heights home? Check out the previous post. This data was taken from the yearly Houston Chronicle Subdivision price trends supplement which came out 04/11/10. I look forward to this yearly supplement because it’s a quick [...]

First, check my Interactice Map of Neighborhoods to see where Spring Branch is located. Spring Branch is a complex area to describe. Even the location is tough to define.  It is bounded roughly by I-10 to the south; BW8 on the west; 290 on the east; Clay Rd on the north. The east end (near [...]

Clicking on the name of the neighborhood will take you to my latest posts on that subdivision. I know, I don’t have posts on all these areas yet, but I soon will have. If you are considering [...]

It is just the other side of I-45 from the Heights, but a different world all together. In 1937,  Mr. Roy Reid [...]

What Makes Garden Oaks So Popular?

by Rich on November 19, 2009

Garden Oaks is a close-in neighborhood of approximately 1400 homes. It was to be the “next River Oaks” until WWII started. Now a delightful neighborhood of updated 1950′s homes on curved, shaded streets.

Oak Forest is close-in North Side neighborhood in Houston. Most homes are one-story ranch style built in the 1950’s. It has a very convenient close-in location with easy access to downtown. Inner Loop prices are causing many first-time homebuyers to look at the areas just outside the 610 Loop. Prices are considerably lower and the lots are bigger.

Should we allow the random destruction of Houston’s wonderful early 1900’s homes? Sometimes – Yes.  I love old houses! To walk through an old house that hasn’t been touched since Grandma left it decades ago is a treat! But to save them all?  I don’t think so! Let’s use some sense. Let’s preserve what’s truly [...]
