Two Similar Homes-Two Different Kitchens
Builders have a choice when building more than one home: Make them identical (Cheaper; fewer plans to pay for, easier to build duplicates, fewer decisions to make; buy fixtures in bulk, etc.) or make each one distinctive. Distinctive is the route HDT Builders chooses. They don’t build a lot of homes, so each one is a different, distinctive and masterfully constructed. It is Dee Todd Simmons’ nature to make each house unique because she is not only a builder the construction supervisor, she is also an artist. The other partner, Dave Hatcher is the behind the scenes engineer.
Here is an example of their work on two similar homes at 216 & 220 W 24th St. in Houston Heights: Both homes are about 2440 SF 3/2.5/2 + 1BR/1Ba quarters. Both have the same footprint but have an entirely different feel and interior layout. Click on the links above for more details, videos, etc. The kitchens on both homes are located toward the back and both open to the family room. The look, feel and layout of each kitchen is entirely different.
The first house is 216 W 24th: This house has stairs alongside the kitchen, and has a walk-in pantry.
The second house is 220 W 24th St, in Houston Heights.
Everyone’s tastes are different, especially in kitchen. These homes offer two different styles, but absolute attention to detail in construction and finishing. Both home differ in bedrooms and baths.
