The Second Annual Preservation Fair is June 7, 2014

This is an early notice about the upcoming Preservation Fair by Houston’s Planning and Development Department. There was a lot of info given out at last year’s fair. This should be even stronger.  No schedule  of events yet.  See imfo from Last Year’s event.

Houston Preservation Fair 2014

Second Annual Preservation Fair

It will be a half day of seminars and workshops on preserving homes in historical neighborhoods.
If you live in the Heights (where there are 7 historic districts) or other historic districts in Houston, you should attend the event. If you are remodeling a home in a historic area you would be foolish not to attend. See my page on Historic Districts.
The event is open to the public and is free. If you haven’t been to the City Permitting Building, visiting the building is worth the trip.
It will be held on Saturday, June 7,  2014 at the Houston Permitting Center located at 1002 Washington Ave., Houston TX 77002 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with sessions beginning at 9:00 a.m. and concluding with door prize give-a-ways.

Please RSVP by June 3. For more information, call 713-837-7963.

The Planning & Development Department’s Historic Preservation Fair is a half day event designed to bring historic neighborhoods together to allow residents and professionals the opportunity to interact and discuss challenges related to caring for older homes. The fair will provide educational tools and resources through a combination of workshops, and seminars on topics designed to provide solutions to effectively protect the historical, cultural and architectural characteristics of Houston’s historic districts.

If you own or renovate historic houses, you won’t want to miss this half day event. This event is free and open to the public.

The workshop will cover historic district and landmark designation process, other preservation related topics and introduce various resources available to assist owners in the stewardship of historic properties.
